Derald Lamar Cooper of Forney, Texas passed peacefully Monday January 29th at 5:46am. Derald was born July 18th 1957 in Birmingham, Alabama to Billy Jack and Betty Ruth Murray Cooper. He grew up with his younger brother in the Birmingham area and graduated from Banks High School.
Derald and Tammie Cole Cooper met in Birmingham and married in April of 1981. In 1983 their son Joshua was born. In 1984 Derald and Tammie moved to Mesquite, Texas where he began working as a truck driver until he founded his Lawn and Landscape business that would become Southwestern Lawn Management. He would continue to run the company daily until his retirement in 2022.
During the 1990s and early 2000s, Derald was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church in Mesquite, Texas. He loved to drive the church bus to youth camps and events as well as run the sound board on Sunday.
After moving to Forney in 2002, he would eventually become a member of the City of Forney Parks and Recreation Board and would go on to serve on the Forney City Council. He enjoyed playing golf, softball, dominoes and driving around the neighborhood in his golf cart with his Golden-Doodle, Abby.
Derald was preceded in death by his Mother and Father and leaves behind his wife,Tammie Cooper, son, Josh Cooper; and wife, Nicki; grandson Cash Cooper and son Jason Bullard; brother Maurice Cooper, wife Beth; nephews Christoper Cooper and Will Cooper, wife Jennifer; and niece Katy Canada, husband John.
