On January 26, 2024, Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, with the help of multiple law enforcement agencies in a coordinated effort, seized five kilograms of methamphetamines and five pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop.

Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle in Kaufman County Terrell, Texas. The vehicle refused to stop and fled from deputies. After a short vehicle pursuit and foot chase, three individuals were apprehended. During the deputy’s investigation, five kilograms of methamphetamine and five pounds of marijuana were seized from the vehicle and identification not belonging to the three individuals.

The three individuals, 52-year-old Claude Turner from Tyler, Texas, 41-year-old Deslock Crayton from Tyler, Texas and 31-year-old Demarcus Turner from Reno, Nevada were arrested and transported the Kaufman County law enforcement Center charged with Evading Arrest and Detention, Manufacturing/Delivering of Substance, Possession of Marijuana, Fraudulent use /Possession of Identification and warrants from other law enforcement agencies. This arrest is an ongoing investigation. “Since I took office in 2017 and implemented the criminal interdiction team, combining it with our drug interdiction team with help and intelligence from other law enforcement agencies, our drug interdiction has played a crucial role in law enforcement by disrupting illicit drug activities, reducing drug-related crimes and safeguarding communities from harmful impacts of substance abuse in Kaufman County,” Sheriff Bryan Beavers, said.
