Ever wonder where you could go that is close by and will let you work with a 3D printer? Or be able to collaborate with other creatives to make an idea a reality? Stay tuned to the happenings at The OC as a makerspace area named Assembly Required will be opening up later in the spring.
Assembly Required, powered by the Forney Education Foundation, will be an innovative lab and makerspace located at The Opportunity Central. This space will offer opportunities for students and the community to make ideas and sketches come to fruition. The Foundation decided to partner with the OC and Forney ISD to invest in our students to inspire invention, creation, dreaming, engineering, experimenting, and enrichment. The community will also have an opportunity to use the space to create, learn, host meetings and events as well as attend classes to become an innovator themselves.
As Benjamin Franklin was quoted to say, “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I will learn.” The potential for involvement is so high with the inclusion of the community as well as the students that this makerspace is a bright light on the horizon.
What a great nod to the light that FEF endeavors to shine for the students and teachers in Forney ISD this area will be for years to come! We need to remember that big ideas begin with a single thought that then develops into a full-blown project that can enhance our little corner of North Texas or envelop the world in a solved problem.
Are you ready to roll up your sleeves and create something amazing or practical or artistic or ordinarily functional? Visit www. forneyisdfoundation.org and get ready to assemble something!
