On Friday, January 5, 2024, the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Department welcomed the community to the grand opening of the new Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office Substation located on the north side of Forney. Purposefully positioned within the fastest-growing portion of Kaufman County, this new facility will house Patrol Units, a Criminal Investigation Division, a Property Room, a Training Room, and Command Staff. Additionally, this Substation, which is located on FM 548 in close proximity to North Forney High School on land previously donated by Forney ISD, includes classroom space for FISD’s Career Technology and Education (CTE) program making it an innovative facility that will not only function to protect and serve residents and businesses of Kaufman County but will also provide invaluable education opportunities for the students of Forney ISD.
Last Friday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony welcomed representatives from many local, county, and state offices, all of whom are looking forward to the positive impact this multi-purpose substation will provide. As noted in the official invitation to the ceremony, this will give the Sheriff’s office the “opportunity to better serve the public in the northwestern area of Kaufman County where our growth is” as well as the opportunity to collaborate “with all law enforcement agencies to help deter crime” and work “with the schools in training those who want to work in the detention side or seek a career in law enforcement”. As Kaufman County, and Forney specifically, continues to grow at unprecedented rates, it is vital that law enforcement continues to be ahead of the curve with creative partnerships like this new Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office Substation.
