On December 12, 2023, a Kaufman County jury found KYLE BRANDON WILLIAMS guilty on two counts of Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact. Williams was the 27-yearold live-in boyfriend of the children’s mother. The jury heard testimony that he began perpetrating the offenses when the children were 7 and 9 years old. Following the children’s outcries of Williams’ sexual abuse, their mother was later arrested and charged with hindering the apprehension of a fugitive when Williams was located by law enforcement hiding in her closet.
It took the jury less than one hour to deliberate and find Williams guilty on both counts. After hear-ing testimony from the Kaufman County Community Supervision and Corrections Department, the Defendant, and members of the Defendant’s family, the Honorable Judge Shelton T.W. Gibbs IV of the 422nd District Court remarked on Williams’ failure to take responsibility for his own actions and sentenced Williams to the maximum sentence of 20 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice on each charge. Judge Gibbs further ruled that the sentences were to be served consecutively.
The case was led in prosecution by members of the Kaufman County Special Victims Division: Assistant District Attorneys Taylor McConnell and Justin King, Investigator Sandra Ortiz, Victim’s Assistance Coordinator Kylie Conner, and Paralegal Amanda Morris. The Kaufman County District Attorney’s Office would like to recognize the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office for their excellent work investigating and apprehending Williams on these charges.
The Criminal District Attorney’s Office is committed to fighting cases involving crimes committed against children and recognizes the highly sensitive nature of these cases.
