An ornament designed and painted by a Kaufman High School student hangs in the House of Representatives chamber in the State Capitol this Christmas. Isabella Phiffer hand-painted the ornament highlighting Kaufman High School’s Lion Pride. Representative Bell hung the ornament from the tree in a special ceremony in the House Chamber on Friday, December 1st. As is tradition, each submitted ornament will be captured through photographs and cataloged in the annual House Chamber photo album.
Representative Bell said, “Celebrating the remarkable talents of young individuals within House District 4 has always been a cherished aspect of my role as a State Representative. I appreciate Isabella and her art teacher, Mrs. Thomas, for their time dedicated to working on this project.”
Each Representative is invited to select an artist from their community to create an ornament showcasing what makes their House District unique and then have that ornament hung from the Capitol Christmas Tree. The Christmas Tree will be on display for thousands of visitors to see through January 2, 2024.
