The Falcons and Red Raiders headed into last Friday night both with 3 and 1 records in the district, each looking for the 2nd spot and a potential home playoff spot. The offense and defense had great nights once again this week. The defense held the Raiders to 3 points and only 177 total yards. The defense forced several fumbles and potential interceptions but only ended up with one recovery.
Outstanding players of the game were senior standout nose guard Martin Roacha and senior defensive end Jeremy Mathews. Roacha dominated the middle and caused one fumble and had one sack, while Mathews added 5 tackles, 1 sack and 4 hurries. DC Booker said he felt like the defense has had two weeks of solid play and he looks for a good week of practice going into Heath.
Offensively Crochett was 15 of 20 for 248 yards, 3 passing touchdowns, and 1 rushing 5-yard TD. T.C.’s main targets for the week were CoC Robinson, who hauled in 4 catches for 102 yards and 1 TD, Kasen McCoy with 6 catches for 85 yards and a TD, and finally Isaiah Mayfield with 4 catches for 65 yards and a TD. The rushing attack also had a good night with Andi Asuquo rushing for 133 yards on 17 carries, scoring 1 TD. Rozier Burns tacked on a TD of his own on 40 yards rushing. The night was topped off with kicker Jake Guardiola hitting 5 of 6 PATs.
The Falcons look to improve to 9 and 1 this Friday against Rockwall Heath placing them 2nd in the district and a home game against Garland HS in the first round. This should be a great game with playoff implications, so come out and cheer the boys on at City Bank Stadium. Remember, it’s a great day to be a Falcon.
