Fall is marching season for the high school band. They march every Friday night during half-time at the football games. There are also a host of other marching competitions scattered throughout the season.
The Forney High School Band has already had a successful season by placing 9th overall at the Bands of America Competition in Prosper, as well as placing 2nd in Class 5A and 5th overall in the HEB competition.
During the last two weeks, the band has added to its success at the UIL Regional Competition and the UIL Area Competition. The UIL competitions took place at Memorial Stadium in Mesquite. This season the FHS Band received a perfect score from all judges at the UIL Region 3 Competition. On Saturday October 28, the band received the honor of being rated best among all 5A bands in Area C.
They now advance to the State UIL Competition at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Going to the State Competition is becoming a tradition for the Forney High School Band. Last year Forney was ranked in the top 10 bands in the State. This year on November 6-8, the Forney High School Band will take the field at the Alamodome and compete with the best bands in Texas with hopes of bringing home another high State ranking.
