The Layden Senior Citizens Center of Forney is located at 101 Main Street in City Hall, open Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Please enter at the front or through handicap accessible doors located at the back of City Hall, except on Fridays when the front door will be locked because the City is now closed on Fridays. Reserved parking for seniors is available 9:00-2:00 at the back of the building.

Our Center is a non-profit organization, so we work on donations. All are greatly appreciated. We can often use volunteer drivers for meals on wheels deliveries as well.

Mahatma Ghandi said, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the ser vice of others.”

We greatly appreciate our generous and consistent donors: Panera Bread, Papa John’s Pizza, Smurfit Kappa, and our Bingo sponsors, Alinea Hospice, Cheyenne Medical Lodge, Empower, Rely On Credit Union, and Oak Street Health. We invite you to frequent these wonderful businesses as often as you can.

Be sure to pick up your monthly calendar so you do not miss out on any of the fun and meaningful activities our dynamic, creative Director, Dena, always strives to plan and coordinate for us.

Our regularly scheduled activities are as follows: Bingo Mondays, Fridays at 10:00 Bridge Club Tuesdays, Thursdays at 12:30 LRC (left, right, center) Tuesdays at 10:00 Noodle Ball Tuesdays at 11:00 Movies Day 9-11:00 on Thursdays (last week we saw A Man Called Otto) Art Class Thursdays Please join us for breakfast weekdays at 8:30 and lunch at 12:00 noon, prepared by Danielle and Dena.

When unable to attend meals at the Center, check out this week’s recipe. Fall is fast approaching, but the temperatures still think it’s summertime. So while it may not be cool enough to bust out the boots and jackets just yet, flavors of the season are in full swing, including pumpkin spice. https://www.eatingbirdfood. com/healthy-pumpkin-recipes/ “It was a beautiful, bright autumn day, with air like cider and a sky so blue you could drown in it.” –Diana Gabaldon “Love the trees until the leaves fall off, then encourage them to try again next year.” –Chad Sugg “I hope I can be the autumn leaf, who looked at the sky and lived. And when it was time to leave, gracefully it knew life was a gift.” –Dodinsky “Autumn carries more gold in its pocket than all the other seasons.” –Jim Bishop “There is something so special in the early leaves drifting from the trees, as if we are all allowed a chance to peel, to refresh, to start again.” –Ruth Ahmed
