On the morning of Friday, September 1st, the Forney Police Department responded to a local elementary school within the Forney ISD in reference to an injury to a child investigation. Officers were able to establish that the injuries were severe and occurred recently. Due to the injuries, the child was taken to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment. With the assistance of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, the Forney Police were able to secure the safety of the child and others within the household. The investigative efforts of the Forney Police Department led to the successful arrest of the two suspects in the case and the execution of a search warrant for the residence.
James Richard II was taken into custody at 1:45 p.m., followed by Syasandrea Conroy, at 3:29 p.m., both of Forney. Both suspects were booked into the City of Forney Jail for one count of Injury to a Child, Penal Code 22.04, a first degree felony.
The Forney Police Department would like to thank the members of the Forney ISD staff, Forney ISD Police Department, Forney Fire Department, Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, and local hospital staff for assisting in securing the safety of the children and successful apprehension of the two suspects.
This investigation is still ongoing, and other charges may be forthcoming.
