The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), formally the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, is an organization of U.S. war veterans, who, as military service members fought in wars, campaigns, and expeditions on foreign land, waters, and airspace.
The Forney Memorial VFW Post 9180 is located at 13300 FM 1641, Forney TX. Their mission is to serve our veterans, the military, and our communities and advocate on their behalf. We welcome Commander Heather Phelps; under her watch, the Post was recently honored for being 2nd in the district with 120% membership for 2022-2023. Commander Phelps and the Post welcome all the new members and invite you to visit and join their mission.
The Forney Memorial Post 9180, and Commander Phelps have agreed to sponsor Kaufman County East Young Marines. A youth-led non-profit organization for boys and girls ages 8-18. In this short union, we have shared many spaces such as the 70th Anniversary of the Korean War bringing youth together to learn firsthand from our veterans. In addition, Commander Phelps and her supporters hosted the First Annual Veteran Community Supporter Symposium where approximately 35 veterans were assisted, and three dogs found their forever home during the new Pets for Vets Program. During this event, Commander Phelps invited many veteran support groups to come for a meet and greet; thereby bringing services to our veterans here at home. Endless networking and opportunity were evident.
