With the backdrop of senior night, home opener, 100-degree weather, and facing the Wildcats who were 8-3 beating the Falcons last season, there were some questions on how the Falcons would respond. Head Coach Eric Luster said, “The Falcons had a great offseason and placed first in two team camps this summer. The Falcons also qualified for the state 7 on 7 this summer.” Luster said he was very excited to see the team continuing to keep the winning momentum.
The Falcon offense came out looking like midseason form. Quarterback Tamarion Crochett was on point and in command. Crochett threw for 357 yards and 5 touchdowns with a near 800 QB rating and rushed for 30 yards, adding a rushing touchdown. TC’s top targets were Wide Receiver Kasen McCoy with 158 yards and 2 touchdowns, Running Back Jaquarian Robinson for 128 yards in the air, 70 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns, and Isaiah Mayfield for 75 yards and 1 touchdown. The run game was also very effective with 216 yards on the night. Kellen Sanders added 58 yards and had some explosive moves when his number was called. Other standouts were Kicker Jake Guardiola and Elijah Mayfield who caused two fumbles.
The Falcons play the Rowlett Eagles this Thursday, and I hope you can be there to cheer on the boys despite the heat. It’s a great day to be a Falcon!!
