As the school year has started, so has the year for the Forney Education Foundation. There were many wonderful things that happened last year for the Foundation. Once again, FEF provided backpacks through Project Backpack by supporting nearly 1300 students in need as newto- the-district students brought the number up to 1500. We recognized sponsors over social media, in the Forney Messenger, and at the Forney ISD August Board meeting.
STEAM camps were another fun and educational event sponsored by FEF and ultimately enabling the attendees to participate in many new and exciting classes for five weeks. So many happy faces and so many great learning moments happened every week! FEF also provided lunch to the camp instructors and student workers every Thursday for the five weeks of STEAM camp.
The Foundation again supplied class t-shirts to incoming kindergarteners with “Class of 2036” on them. Parents posted photos of their students in their shirts and tagged the Foundation. What’s Poppin is a FEF partner that is supporting the campaign by providing a popcorn party at the campus of a randomly selected winner.
Our Adopt-A-Grant program will be opening soon, as we are waiting for our teachers to submit their grants. The days that the Grant Train rolls through FISD are some of the best of the year; by adopting a grant, you will make a difference.
And North Texas Giving Day will take place this year on Thursday, September 21 with early giving beginning on Friday, September 1, 2023. Last year FEF received over $51,000 through the generosity of our North Texas Neighbors.
