Who is My Why?

I was asked this week why I am such a firm believer in Forney ISD. I happily replied that the teachers, our wonderful, professional educators, who teach their hearts out for their students are the first half – and that the students in Forney ISD are the other half of my “why”.

Scrolling through social media the days before the first day of school, as well as the first day of school itself and the days that followed, showed the world their dedication to their chosen profession of educating tomorrow’s leaders. The parents in these posts also were confident that the teachers would take care of their children as well.

As a member of the Board of Directors for the Forney Education Foundation, I look forward to reviewing the grant requests from the teachers in the district. There are many innovative ideas that become grant requests that are submitted to the Committee for consideration. While we can’t fund every grant, FEF manages to fund as many as possible. When Adopt-A-Grant was introduced, it enabled many more grants to be funded resulting in many more students benefiting from the thoughtful requests.

Since school is now in full swing, the grant request window from the teachers has opened and soon the Grant Committee will gather to discuss and choose the grants to fund.
