Summer Members Meeting Set State Fair Exhibit on Display Through August
The meeting was called to order with a quorum by President Debbie Stuart with (members) Charles Beason, Bill Crawley, Tracy Drane, Donna Hervey, Lawrence Higgins, Sarah Potts, L. C. Randolph, Debbie Stuart, Don Themer, Rick Townsend, Margaret Tull, George Venner, and (Museum Manager) Kendall Nobles in attendance. George Venner spoke the invocation; Secretary Jana Garner’s previous meeting’s minutes were read from prepared copies and approved unanimously; Treasurer Donna Hervey’s treasurer’s report was orally delivered and approved unanimously.
Kendall Noble’s Museum Manager’s Report noted approximately 364 museum/history sites visits with approximately $3,260.00 gift shop and home tour tickets sales. The STATE FAIR of TEXAS “rented” exhibit opened July 19 and will continue through nearly all of August.
*Discussed ways “we” can contribute to Terrell’s “150 Years” event in October. Summer Members Meeting was held July 22 at the Spellman Museum of Forney History. Guests brought a side dish or dessert to complement food items provided by the FHPL.
*Discussed the next step for Coreen Spellman art work–frame, display, store, work with appraiser/dealer. Discussed what to do with Adams Drug Store case in storage–prepare for use?
*Discussed Humanities Texas and prepared to pay yearly bill. COLLECTIONS COMMITTEE considered several items offered for donation and will probably ultimately accept all.
*Discussed the recent HOME TOUR and its success and gave an extra “thanks” to Margaret Tull, who “ramrodded” the function during Forney Founder’s Day. Discussed recent “theft” at the Museum and recommended extra “caution” from this point. Discussed continuing “CEMETERY” projects.
*Heard report from Chairman George Venner concerning finances and the TRUST and report that May was not an especially good month for the “market” and earnings but that June was much better–All-in-all, the TRUST and Museum finances are in good shape!
Meeting was adjourned upon Motion by Lawrence Higgins and second by Tracy Drane.
