The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2024, recently passed by the U.S. House of Representatives, serves as a beacon of hope amid the increasing political divisiveness that threatens our nation’s unity. Instead of preparing our nation for emerging threats, the Biden administration has weaponized our military to promote abortion, gender modification surgeries, and racial discrimination. In response to this destructive decline, Speaker McCarthy empowered conservatives to return the focus of our Department of Defense to its core purpose of protecting the American people.
The passage of the NDAA marks a significant stride in curbing the excesses of the Biden administration, which has politicized our military to further a radical agenda. I was proud to support and pass amendments prohibiting taxpayer-funded abortions and gender reassignment procedures at the Department of Defense.
In addition to reaffirming our commitment to life, the NDAA takes on wokeness in the military, provides pay raises for men and women in uniform, and addresses the threats posed by increasingly hostile actors abroad, such as the Chinese Communist Party. As global threats emerge, we must remain vigilant and ready to defend our freedoms and interests abroad.
The passage of the NDAA sends a clear message: The Republican-controlled House is committed to guaranteeing the American military remains the best equipped, best trained, and most lethal fighting force. I take pride in supporting legislation that upholds the values of our community and contributes to our nation’s prosperity. The FY24 NDAA achieves this goal. It is the most conservative, pro-America defense bill in recent memory, reflecting the strength and resilience that define Texas and our nation.
