Recently a group of students from the Forney High School Percussion ensemble and two students from the Forney High School Band were selected to participate at the Texas A&M University - Commerce Percussion Directors Symposium sponsored by Stryvemind.
The Students served as the demo group for the Power On! Marching Arts Audio Intensive Workshop. The purpose of the workshop was to help those in attendance better understand the best ways to enhance and reinforce the amplified percussion instruments during performances on the field. Tanner Leonardo and Andrew Werst led the workshop while the students performed exercises in demonstration. Mr. Riley Warren, Director of Percussion at Forney High School, led the students and answered questions from the more than 60 percussion and band directors at the clinic.
The students who gave their time out of their summer vacation included: Sarah Stevens, Bella Esquivel, Jude Frentress, Alissa Welsh, and Eli Tamez. The two wind players from the Forney High School Band were Cameron Martin on trumpet, and Tomo Miyazaki on flute.
