At the Forney Education Foundation’s meeting on Tuesday, June 20, the Board of Directors set aside a portion of the evening to surprise one of its members. Billie Kasper, who has served as a Board Member since 2006, was honored with a plaque naming her as a Legacy Member of the Forney Education Foundation. Mrs. Kasper is the first female to be given the title of Legacy Member, joining Keith Bell, Robert Dobbs, Rick Wilson, George Brown, Gary Beene, and Wesley Wilson.
Completely stunned by the presentation, Billie expressed her gratitude for such an honor. And in her true character, she pointed back to the focus of the Foundation: the kids of Forney ISD. The Foundation’s stated mission is “to provide opportunities for excellence in education, promote innovation in teaching, and partner with the community to enhance the quality of education for all students”, and Billie Kasper embraces each one of those aspects of the Foundation’s mission as she serves the students of Forney ISD. Anyone who has had the pleasure of working alongside Billie knows just how much her passion for influencing the future generations and her boundless energy in this area impact her willingness to make connections in the name of the Forney Education Foundation. Billie commented, “It’s easy to tell people about FEF because it really is all about the kids.”
Mrs. Kasper is a local business owner; she has owned Flower Basket, Forney’s local florist, for nearly 30 years. And despite the time and energy she spends on running a successful and busy business, Billie maintains an active presence in the Forney Education Foundation. From taking part in special events like the Antlers and Tutus Fun Run to delivering great news to local teachers on the Grant Train each year, she has also written a weekly article for the Forney Messenger for the past three years as a way to keep the town up to date on the Foundation’s news and events.
Congratulations to Mrs. Billie Kasper on the welldeserved honor of being named a Legacy Member of the Forney Education Foundation!
