The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi Inducts New Members
The following people recently were initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective collegiate honor society for all academic disciplines.
Allyson Cothern of Forney at Texas A&M University-Commerce Jennifer Kennedy of Heartland at Texas A&M University-Commerce Jessica Bednar of Crandall at Texas A&M University-Commerce They are among approximately 25,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

SFA Welcomes, Celebrates New Lumberjacks
at Axe’cepted Students Day
On April 1, Stephen F. Austin State University welcomed 310 incoming students to their new home during the university’s Axe’cepted Students Day.
The event provides incoming undergraduate students admitted for the upcoming fall semester a full-day slate of comprehensive sessions to help orient them to SFA and life in East Texas.
Students, as well as their family members and educational supporters, were able to speak with current students, faculty and staff and have questions answered about their upcoming college experience. The day included a meet and greet with academic deans; tours of key campus areas and services, including the Health and Wellness Hub, Student Recreation Center, and Academic Assistance and Resource Center; information sessions; and an involvement mixer, among others.

Mary E. Willis makes Honor Roll at Oregon State University
A total of 12,307 students earned a B-plus (3.5) or better to make the listing. To be on the Honor Roll, students must carry at least 6 graded hours of course work.

Philip Ameyaw Graduates from Harding University
More than 600 students received diplomas and were recognized as Harding University graduates for Spring 2023 during a commencement ceremony on May 6, 2023.
Graduates include students from the College of Allied Health, College of Arts and Humanities, College of Bible and Ministry, Paul R. Carter College of Business Administration, Cannon-Clary College of Education, Carr College of Nursing, College of Pharmacy, College of Sciences and University College.
University President Mike Williams recognized the candidates as they were recommended by the faculty for graduation.

UT Tyler Recognizes Students on Spring 2023 Dean’s List
The University of Texas at Tyler announced the students who were named to the spring 2023 Dean’s List.
To qualify for the Dean’s List, a student must have completed 12 or more semester hours of undergraduate college-level credit in the awarding semester with a grade point average of at least 3.75. To be considered for this recognition, a student must qualify as a matriculated student pursuing a first bachelor’s degree. This recognition is made in fall and spring semesters.
To qualify for the Ben and Maytee Fisch College of Pharmacy Dean’s List, a student must have completed six or more credit hours in the awarding semester with a grade point average of at least 3.75.
