What does Forney ISD have that is worth bragging about? The amazing and dedicated educators that are willing to take on projects over the summer to engage students in topics that they are passionate about. Some of the camps will explore baking, coding, card making, sewing, creative writing, and cross stitching, among other activities. The camps will run for four days in a week, with morning and afternoon sessions available. Some of the camps have already filled up but there are options happening in June and July.
In case you were unaware of what STEAM stands for, it is: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. The opportunity to stay engaged in learning something new over the summer is open to Forney ISD students as well as all students, so even homeschooled students can participate in them. There is quite a wide variety of options for the camps so there is probably something for your student to learn about over the summer. Be sure to check them out today as the registration closes May 23 at midnight.
So where do the opportunities STEAM camps offer to students lead them? The ten-year-old may discover that there is a creative flair for sewing that could lead to a career in fashion design or personal sewing for themselves. The twelve-year-old may discover that coding is inherently easy for them to do and enables them to become someone that changes the world of computers. The fifteen-year-old could discover that baking is an amazing hobby that satisfies the soul and enables them to reach people in a heartfelt way.
And here is your opportunity to make a difference this summer for any of these students. Simply go to www.forneyisdfoundation. org and select the donate tab to be a sponsor for a student at STEAM camp. Make their futures brighter!
