May 6, 2023, was Election Day and marked our local Joint Election, during which voters had the opportunity to decide which candidates they would like to lead the Forney Independent School District, as well as our local government for the City of Forney.

Registered voters within Forney ISD opted to keep their incumbent School Board Trustees. For Position 1, Scott Regan was reelected by a vote of 2,011 to 829 for his opponent Paul J. Cuara. In Position 2, Greg Pharris retained his seat with 1,809 votes to Erika Price’s 1,391.

In the races for City of Forney leadership, current Mayor, Amanda Lewis did not seek re-election. Her place will now be filled by Jason Roberson, who received 1,312 votes, to Mike Thomas’ 565. Places 2 and 4 of the Forney City Council will continue to be filled by Cecil Chambers and Sarah Salgado, respectively, who both ran unopposed. In Place 6, incumbent Greg Helm was challenged by Nate Dettmer and narrowly won reelection with 916 votes to 802.
