Forney Independent School District held a groundbreaking ceremony for three new campuses scheduled to open for the 2024-2025 school year.
The district broke ground on Warren Middle School on Thursday, April 13. The new Warren Middle School will be adjacent to the current building which will transition to Clay Jones Intermediate once the new building is completed. Forney ISD Board of Trustees, school officials, and members of the Jones family were all present for the groundbreaking and acknowledgment ceremony. Jones Intermediate will be the fourth intermediate campus in Forney ISD.
The district broke ground on Ed Wilson Elementary on Monday, April 17. Wilson Elementary will be located near Jackson Middle School, Rhodes Intermediate, and the OC. Upon completion, the campus will become the new home of the Dual Language Academy. Members of the Wilson family were present for the ceremony along with Forney ISD Board of Trustees and district officials. Wilson Elementary will be the eleventh elementary school in the district.
On April 18, the district held a groundbreaking ceremony for Donald P. and Vivian N. Themer Middle School. Members of the Themer family, former students, Forney ISD Board of Trustees, and district officials were present. Themer Middle School will be the district’s 4th middle school campus.
Forney ISD is experiencing tremendous growth with current enrollment at more than 16,000 students. The district is forecasted to enroll over 24,000 students by the 2027-2028 school year.
