Forney ISD is now a Texas Thespians Premiere Communities for Theatre Education district, one of only nine in the state. At last week’s school board meeting, Fine Arts Coordinator Jenae Glanton was presented the award for her work with the theater departments and working closely with the district’s theatre team to complete the application. The award recognizes and honors school districts that provide their theatre programs with the resources to achieve above standard and exemplify excellence in theatre education.
To qualify for the Texas Thespians Premiere Communities for Theatre Education Award, Forney ISD Fine Arts answered detailed questions about curriculum, scheduling standards, class sizes, facilities, theatre safety, technical equipment, production elements, overall support for the theatre program, and Thespian troupe involvement. Responses were verified and reviewed by Texas Theatre Education specialists.
With the Texas Thespians Premiere Communities for Theatre Education distinction granted, Forney ISD is now eligible to apply for the Educational Theatre Association’s National Premiere Communities for Theatre Education Award.
