John Allen Jackson went home to be with Jesus, on December 4, 2022, at the age of 91. John was born to Tom and Ethel Jackson on August 24, 1931 near Cleveland, TX. His family moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma in 1933. John was the third child out of six in the house. As a child he attended a three room school house with grades of 1-7. He walked to and from school. Their only transportation was a wagon until he was in high school. Living on the farm required cutting firewood, feeding the cows, horses, pigs, and chickens, and sometimes this was done by way of a kerosene lantern. His chores continued into the night where he shelled corn into milk for the pigs the next day and would churn cream into butter. There was no electricity, gas, running water, or indoor plumbing. At the age of 9, John attended a winter revival with his brother Kenneth, age 7, where they both accepted the Lord as their Savior. In 1947, his family of 8 moved to Abilene, Texas. Shortly after the move, his dad died when he was 16, and John joined the Air Force when he was 18. He married his beloved wife Lena in 1959 at Crescent Heights Baptist in Abilene, TX.
God took this rough country kid from humble beginnings and used him for His glory. John pastored churches in California and Texas, leading hundreds of people to Christ. He also wrote a book entitled,
Spiritual Warfare: A Guide to Controlling the Mind and the Emotions.
John is survived by his wife Lena Jackson, sister Lorene Senft, sons Randy and Rick Jackson, and daughter Sherry Daniel, as well as their spouses. Also left to carr y on his legacy are grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family members.
His Celebration to Glory service will be held at First Baptist Church, Forney on December 17, 2022, at 10:30 AM in the Forum. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in John’s memory to The Door, a crisis pregnancy center located at 13340 FM 740, Forney, Texas 75126.
