With the first weekend in December already behind us, the month feels like it is galloping to the end of the year. There are still many, many activities happening through the end of the month that give the Forney Family the opportunity to connect with each other and find the true meaning of this wonder-filled holiday season.
Coming up on Saturday, December 10, is the 4th Annual Antlers and TuTus Fun Run at Johnson Elementary near Overland Grove. Next up at 10 a.m. is the 2nd Annual Big Pink Volleyball Tournament, also at Johnson Elementary. This is a big, fun event for all ages! Registration is closed but audiences are welcome!
There is still time to adopt an angel from the Angel tree. Contact the Forney ISD Administration office, and they will help you with your choice. The drop-off of gifts will happen December 12th and 14th at the Forney Learning Academy. And on December 17th, Pancakes with Santa will happen from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Applebee’s in Forney, sponsored by the Forney Lions Club.
You might ask at this moment, why is this relevant to the Forney Education Foundation? Because the Foundation understands that every aspect of the Forney Community at large contributes to the whole experience of “Forney” itself. Without all of the wonderful partnerships that exist in this community, life here would be cold and uninteresting. The main reason I hear when I ask a “newcomer” why they moved here, they say “the schools”. But I know why the schools are so well thought of. It is the atmosphere that is in this community because of the people that have been here and continue to be here.
So, put on your Santa hat or Elf ears and join one or all of these activities! Visit www. forneyisdfoundation.org and see how to start your month of Holiday happenings!
