The Forney Jackrabbits and some very dedicated fans made the four-hour road trip all the way to Mount Belvieu, Texas last Friday night for their firstround playoff matchup against the Barbers Hill Eagles. Forney entered the Houston area game after dismantling Tyler at home in their regular season finale the week before, 57-13. Barbers Hill came into the game led by their potent offense after a 28-20 win against the Porter Spartans from Porter, Texas the previous Friday.
The Jackrabbit Offense struggled to piece together drives in the contest last week, while Barbers Hill definitively won the special teams matchup in the contest. The Forney Defense held Barbers Hill to just 10 points in the first half, their result of a first quarter touchdown and a second quarter field goal. However, in the second half, the Eagles found weaknesses in the Jackrabbit Defense, scoring an additional 14 points in the third quarter.
The Jackrabbits finally managed to get on the board in the form of a Jayden Brown rushing touchdown late in the contest, but it was not enough for a comeback as this fourth-quarter touchdown produced the only points for the Rabbits for the night. Forney would ultimately lose the game 24-7. A great showing of talent and sportsmanship all season long from these young athletes, the Forney Jackrabbits finish the year with a 7-4 record. The team is looking forward to a productive offseason and the return of many key playmakers for next season. Thank you, Forney Family, for the great support of your Forney Jackrabbits this football season!
