The Forney High School Percussion Ensemble was honored this year by being selected to play a showcase concert at the Percussive Art Society International Convention (PASIC) in Indianapolis. This is the largest gathering for the percussive arts in the world.
Leighann Crockett was awarded the 2022 Mapex-Majestic PASIC Scholarship. This scholarship assists with travel costs to PASIC, and can also be used to purchase new music/ sticks/mallets in the exhibit hall during Leighann’s PASIC trip. In order to qualify for this scholarship, Leighann had to provide a letter of recommendation, and record a 1 minute video of herself answering the following question: “What do you love about percussion, and what do you hope to get out of coming to PASIC 2022?”
FHS Percussion Director, Riley Warren commented, “I am so proud of Leighann for this incredible achievement. Being chosen as a PASIC Scholarship Recipient is an impressive accomplishment. I cannot think of anyone more deserving of this recognition. Leighann has been setting the example for Forney Percussion since she first joined our program 6 years ago. I look forward to watching her accomplish many more amazing feats in the coming years.”
