November 8, 2022 was midterm Election Day, concluding the two weeks of early voting as well as weeks and months of campaigning leading up to this day. In addition to Federal and State level elections, Voters also saw many Local elections on the ballot, including five Bond Propositions directly affecting residents of the City of Forney.

At the State level, Forney native Keith Bell retained his seat as the State Representative for District 4. Bell handily beat opponent, Libertarian Matt Savino, with 41,954 votes to Savino’s 12,329 votes. Representative Bell has served constituents in this position since November 2018.

Locally, voters were deciding on several Bond Propositions by the City of Forney. Proposition A, which requested $45.8 million for public safety improvements, was denied with 3,448 votes against and 3,309 votes in favor. In Proposition B, the City proposed a $68.8 million bond to improve Forney’s parks. This was denied with 4,196 against and 2,612 in favor. The $46 million recreation center in Proposition C was also denied, 4,312 to 2,478. Voters decided against Proposition D’s $21.5 million library and community center in a 3,670 to 3,147 vote. And lastly, the only bond proposal to win approval, Proposition E narrowly passed with 3,454 votes in favor to 3,360 votes against. Proposition E was summarized as roads and infrastructure improvements, to the sum of $52.7 million. The City’s website indicates plans to improve Lovers Lane, FM 548 / Monitor Connector, Community Park Road Extension, and a grade separation to route traffic over the railroad in downtown Forney.
