The North Forney Falcons lost to the Tyler Legacy Raiders, 31 to 24, last Thursday night. The game was previous scheduled for Friday night but was rescheduled to Thursday due to a bad weather forecast. The game was also planned to be Senior Night, so moving the contest up a night ensured that the festivities could go on as planned.
Both teams came into the game with an 0-4 record in district play, each hoping to secure a win as the season nears its end. The game was tight most of the night, but the momentum was lost when the Falcons threw a pick six to put Legacy back in the game.
The Falcons Offensive output on the night was sporadic and, at times, could not get the field position changed over. Likewise, the Falcons Defense continued to give up big plays on 3rd and 4th downs. Tyler Legacy’s QB scrambled for more than 200 yards and, at the end of the game, threw a Hale Mary ball that was initially intercepted by Aamii Branch only to have it ripped away at the oneyard line with the next play being for the winning TD. Head Coach Eric Luster said, “I really felt like we let this one get away, and I really wanted this one for the Seniors.”
The overall mood of the Falcons is one of mixed feelings. On one hand, we had a great start to building a new 6A program, but on the other hand we still have not made the full transition both in new schemes and especially our offseason weightlifting program.
In the spirit of Senior Night, the Falcons gave their appreciation to 30 seniors that will be moving on after next Friday night. As for the future of the program, the Falcons are young, but numbers are up. “The offseason will be big for our up-and-coming young men,” said Head Coach Eric Luster. Thank you, Seniors, for all your hard work and dedication this year. You were a great class to set the standard of “THIS”.The Falcons will make the short trip to take on the Rockwall-Heath Hawks for their final game of the season this Friday, November 4. The game will begin at 7:00pm, and the team would love to have the support of its fans for the last week of Friday night lights in the 2022 season. Please come out and cheer on your North Forney Falcons!
