Jackrabbits Beat Bulldogs in Weather Delayed Affair

The Forney Jackrabbits traveled to the luxurious McKinney ISD Stadium last Friday night for their ninth game of the year. A win would cement a playoff spot forForney.McKinneyNorth entered the game after getting pounded by Longview 49-7 the previous week. The Bulldogs entered the contest 6-2 on the season. The Jackrabbits entered the game after beating North Mesquite the week before for Homecoming. The Jackrabbits sought to punch their ticket to the playoffs for the second straight season under Coach Fleener’s direction.

North McKinney entered the game supported by their high-powered offensive attack that featured a powerful running game. The Forney Defense has been stellar, aside from 3 games this season, and looked to continue their dominance against the formidable Bulldog attack.

The Jackrabbits had a variety of scores in the contest. The Jackrabbits secured a tackle on the opening kickoff in the opponent’s end zone for a safety. The Jackrabbits carried their 2-0 lead into the first weather delay.

After fans worked to stay dry and the Rabbits held on tight to their momentum, the teams reentered the field ready to compete. The Jackrabbits received the ball after the weather delay and mounted a touchdown drive capped by a Brent Paine rushing touchdown. There would be two more weather delays in the contest. Overall the game was set back just shy of two hours. McKinney North scored one touchdown during the game, making the score 10-6 entering halftime.

The Jackrabbits would score their second touchdown on the back of Javian Osborne who had a 35-yard rushing touchdown in the second half. The Rabbits defense kept McKinney North from scoring any other points the rest of the night, which brought the final score of the game to 20 to 6.

The Jackrabbits (6-3) host John Tyler this Friday at City Bank Stadium for their regular season finale and Senior Night. Kickoff is set for 7pm. Be sure to come out and cheer on your Forney Jackrabbits!
