The Layden Senior Citizens Center of Forney welcomes you at 101 Main Street in City Hall. We are open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feel free to enter the front or through Handicap accessible doors located at the back of City Hall, where reserved parking for seniors is also available.
We are a non-profit organization, so all donations are much appreciated.

If you are 60 or older and would like to join us for lunch at noon, please either drop by or call 972-552-6690 to sign up by 10:30 a.m. Twyla, our cook, does a terrific job cooking and serving us up wholesome, delicious meals each day. There is also the opportunity to eat breakfast at the center,m from 8:30-10:30am.

She is a kind, fun-loving soul who invests so much to ensure there is always something interesting and fun happening; she puts out a monthly calendar to keep everyone informed of upcoming events.
Last week, on Wednesday, 10/12, we had our covered dish luncheon, always a treat to sample so many different dishes. On Wednesday, 10/19, we celebrated October birthdays. Thank you to Fay Headley, with Edward Jones, who always provides a beautiful birthday cake to celebrate our monthly birthdays!
Our recurring activities each week include:
Art class (with a prize) on Thursdays at 9:00 Bridge on Tuesday & Thursday at 12:30 Bingo on Mondays and Fridays at 10:00 Left Right Center on Tuesday, Thursdays at 10:00 Line Dancing, with a twist, on Thursdays at 11:00 Noodle Ball on Tuesdays at 11:00 Dominos and 42 are often played, as is Mah-jong. A jigsaw puzzle is usually in progress.
Of note, there are several books; if you would like to borrow, you may, or feel free to donate or swap.
Think/plan ahead for Monday, October 31; the Center will host a Halloween party, which will include Bingo, pizza and costume prizes. Costumes are not mandatory, so please attend even if you choose not to don one. But, if you do come in costume, there will be prizes: 1st place, 2nd place, 3rd place – so much fun!
Upcoming National Days include: Friday, October 21 is National Mammography Day, National Pumpkin Cheesecake Day, and National Witch Hazel Day. Sunday, 10/23 is National Boston Crème Pie Day and National Mother-In-Law Day. Wednesday, 10/26 is National Pumpkin Day, National Tennessee Day, and National Day of the Deployed.
