The first day of school for the 2022-2023 year, August 11, is upon Forney, Texas and there is a palpable feeling of exciting learning in the atmosphere at every school campus. Many new students are calling Forney ISD their new school home this year with over 15,000 for the first day attending classes in 9 elementary schools, 3 intermediate schools, 2 high schools, and a learning academy. The entire FISD staff met on Tuesday, August 2, for convocation – the only time all of the staff is gathered in one location – and the event was uplifting for the new-to-thedistrict teachers as well as the returning staff.
There will be challenges for the staff, as there usually is when a new year begins but, after attending convocation, they are aware of all of the help that will be available for them to call upon. One of the resources that will be available to all the teachers will be the teacher-requested grants that Forney Education Foundation funds and the Adopt-A-Grant program that the Forney Community chooses to fund. The teachers all received information about these grants in their packets provided by the District. And as a member of the Grant Committee, I can tell you that we are eagerly looking forward to the requests presented. Forney ISD has some of the best educators that look for innovative ways to reach their students and adapt their personal teaching styles to their students’ capabilities to learn.
As the theme for this year’s convocation was “Back For The Future”, there is truth to the statement that teachers teach not for the income but for the OUTCOME. They want their students to succeed in the classroom as well as out of it. And the Forney Education Foundation is vested in helping both teachers and students achieve their best outcomes. Won’t you join FEF and help these bright, shining faces achieve the absolute best outcomes?
