It’s very easy to get caught in the loop of only worrying about tomorrow or replaying the past. A good teacher once said, “Look at your feet. Are they where they are supposed to be? Are they headed in the direction you want to be going?” Of course, when this statement is made, the reaction can be, “What?” or “That is so lame.” The better reaction is, “Let me look and see where they are pointing me.” There is much to be learned from paying attention to the direction your feet, and ultimately your head, is pointing towards.
The same principle applies to where the Forney
Education Foundation’s “feet” are placed. When the Board of Directors meets in the various committees that make up the Foundation, the VP in charge elicits input from the members to point the “feet” in the proper direction. The different standing committees each have their own areas but ultimately intertwine to fulfill the Foundation’s goals for Forney students.
The Board as a whole works on any and all of the different events that occur throughout the year, helping ensure that our collective feet are pointing in the desired direction. And when we share the Foundation’s story to people, their feet start to go in the same direction. The power of the story is the very fact that there is proof in the scholarships, certifications, and teacher-requested grants that the Foundation provides to Forney ISD students and teachers.
