At their Regular Meeting held on June 23, 2022, the North Texas Municipal Water District (NTMWD) Board of Directors approved an amendment in the amount of $11.9M to the Construction Manager At-Risk (CMAR) Agreement with Archer Western Construction to begin construction activities for the South Mesquite Creek Regional Wastewater Plant (RWWTP) peak flow management and expansion project.

Flow monitoring studies indicated the need for additional peak flow storage capacity during wet weather events through a phased approach. A Capacity Assessment Study of NTMWD’s southern wastewater service area show the South Mesquite Creek RWWTP needs to expand treatment capacity from 33 million gallons per day (MGD) to 41 MGD beginning in 2024 to meet the growth projections in the area through 2033. This amendment allows for the early procurement of peak flow materials and site preparation for the influent pump station no. 3.

The Board recognized outgoing Director John Murphy with a resolution honoring his dedication to the North Texas region since his appointment by the City of Richardson in 2013. Director Murphy served on numerous Committees including serving as Chairman for the Legislative Committee. He was commended for distinguished service to always enhance NTMWD programs and activities.
