Pharaoh, ruler of Egypt, ordered all of Israel’s male children killed at birth because they had grown to outnumber the people of Egypt. They were afraid Israel would join anyone who attacked Egypt and take the country. When Moses was born his mother could not kill him because he was very special to her. She made a basket, put Moses in it, and put the basket floating in the Nile River. The Daughter of Pharaoh found him and when she saw he was a fine healthy baby she took him and claimed him as her own son.
Moses spent 40 years in Egypt and was well-trained in the ways of the people and the army. When he discovered Israel was his people he chose to go and suffer with them instead of enjoying the fine things of Egypt. One time he saw a soldier beating an Israelite slave, so Moses killed the soldier. When it was found out, Moses feared Pharaoh and decided to leave Egypt. Moses fled to the land of Midian. There he joined the Prince of Midian and became a sheep herder for him. Forty years passed, and Moses was herding sheep near a mountain when he saw a burning bush on the side of the mountain that did not burn up while it burned. GOD already knew that Moses would come there at that time. The first words Moses heard were, “take off your shoes, Moses. You are standing on holy ground.” Then GOD began to speak to Moses.
BOTTOM LINE: Our GOD knows every thought, desire, and dream we have. There is no use trying to hide anything from GOD. He knows everything before we can even speak. I am so thankful that GOD loves us and does not destroy us even when He should……AMEN
