Laymen’s Corner

To all those who read this column, I am really sorry about missing last week. It was a trying week for this household but we made it through it all.

Through wars, rioting, accidents, and carelessness many people have lost their lives this year and even this week. Although such evil has been on the earth since day one it does not get any easier to hear about and see with our own eyes.

As Christians our greatest concern should be if those people are going to GOD’S Heaven or the devil’s hell. Our message to the world should be there is only one way into GOD’S heaven which is through Jesus Christ. That message is written over and over in the Bible (GOD’S WORD). The simplest verse in the bible is John 3:16 It also carries the most powerful message. I have heard it said that many people have been saved by accepting Jesus as their personal savior after reading or hearing that verse of scripture.

This story has been told many times but it still can start us to thinking. There was a soldier who was wounded and knew he would not live. He called his sergeant and told him he was about to go out into eternity and did not know GOD. The sergeant remembered that his mom had taught him that scripture (John 3:16 when he was a boy. The sergeant quoted that scripture to the soldier and the soldier received Jesus Christ as his personal savior before he died. We should never underestimate the power of GOD’S word.

BOTTOM LINE; Christians have been given the power to witness to anyone. Actually, the Holy Spirit has the power but we can carry the message by Him.
