District Attorney Erleigh Norville Wiley announced today the conviction of Kristina Nicole Murdoch, 39, for Driving While Intoxicated with a blood alcohol concentration greater than or equal to 0.15. On March 28, 2022, following a twoday trial before the Honorable Judge Tracy Gray in the County Court at Law of Kaufman County, a jury found Murdoch guilty after eighteen minutes of deliberation.

After the jury found Murdoch guilty of driving while intoxicated, the Court assessed Murdoch’s punishment at 1 year confinement in the Kaufman County jail probated for 2 years. In addition to completing 60 hours of community service, Murdoch must also attend a DWI Education Course and a Victim Impact Panel, where Murdoch will learn firsthand the devastating effects of intoxicated driving. Murdoch does not currently have a driver’s license. However, in the event Murdoch obtains a driver’s license, she must have a camera-equipped Ignition Interlock device installed on any vehicle she drives within thirty days of obtaining a driver’s license. Furthermore, Murdoch must not operate any vehicle without an Ignition Interlock device.

The prosecution was led by Assistant Criminal District Attorneys Lisa Turner and Leah Anderson. Investigator Jim Donaldson was instrumental to trial preparation. Additionally, the District Attorney’s Office would like to thank the Forney and Heath Police Departments, specifically Officer Joshua Martin, for his testimony at trial and his steadfast determination in keeping drunk drivers off the streets of Kaufman County.

“The citizens of Kaufman County deserve to know that driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol concentration equal to or greater than 0.15 is an offense our office takes seriously,” said District Attorney Wiley.
