During the March 15 Forney City Council Meeting, Council approved a site plan for a long-requested H-E-B. grocery store to be built in Forney. The property is located near the intersection of FM-1641 and FM-548.

What began over a century ago as a small family-owned grocery store in Kerrville, Texas, H-E-B has now grown to include more than 420 stores across Texas and Mexico. Forney will be the home of one of the chain’s newest additions, bringing one of the largest independently owned supermarkets in the nation right to our front doors.

Not only will this approved plan bring expanded shopping options to residents, a variety of employment options will come with it as well, giving people the opportunity to work for this respected company. As their website states, H-E-B is “in the people business. [They] just happen to sell groceries.”

Though ground has not yet officially been broken on this project, citizens can watch for updates on the development on the City’s website, www.forneytx.gov.
