Now that spring break for Forney ISD is finished, the last part of the school year begins with time marching just a bit faster than perhaps students, teachers, and parents want. It is again a time of last “firsts” for students and parents– last first game, meet, theater opening night, band concert, state level event. But it is also time for many first “firsts” –first varsity start, first starring role, first solo performance. The teachers in Forney ISD also are working even harder to get all of their students ready for the end of year testing and utilizing the grants that were funded last fall by the Forney Education Foundation.

Funding for the grants is achieved through many means but the biggest is the annual Casino Gala Night, this year occurring on April 2 at the Kaufman Civic Center. While the individual tickets are sold out, the sponsors might have one or two available for their friends so if you know any of the sponsors personally it wouldn’t be bad form to ask if they have any extras! This event has proven itself to be a fun event supporting a great cause– the teachers and students in Forney ISD– through the efforts of the Forney Education Foundation. And FEF knows how important the support from the Forney community is for it to be successful in its mission of lighting the way for teaching and learning.

There is still an opportunity however to participate even if you are unable to attend and that is through online bidding for the silent auction items. The bidding for this event will be opening on March 21–please go to www.forneyisdfoundation.org to get registered and to bid on the items!
