Decorated floats, dance groups, community organizations, antique cars, school clubs, and more will be marching through Downtown Mesquite for the annual Rodeo Parade, starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2022. This year’s theme is Real. Texas. Rodeo. and marks the parade’s 64th anniversary. Businesses and local organizations are all invited to be part of this fun-filled tradition.

New this year, Chet Garner, host of the popular Daytripper television series, will be in attendance and filming from the parade and Downtown Mesquite. This six-time Emmy Award-winning travel series centers on one-day adventures in Texas towns.

The parade entry fee is $40 and the registration deadline is Friday, March 25. Floats will be judged on the Real. Texas. Rodeo. theme and the “Best in Show” entry will win a grand prize package of $1,000. Online registration is available at www. cityofmesquite.com/RodeoParade.

If you are not going to enter the parade, consider becoming an event volunteer. Volunteers assist with the organization and flow of parade entries, crowd control, and traffic management along the parade route.
