The support of a community for a school district is necessary for the success of its students. The Forney community’s support for Forney ISD and the Forney Education Foundation has again shown itself to be amazing.

The 4th annual Casino Night is OFFICIALLY SOLD OUT! Our Casino Night benefits the Foundation and will occur at the Kaufman Civic Center on April 2.

This statement in support of FEF’s mission of “Lighting the Way for Teaching and Learning” is inspirational for all of the Foundation’s board members and makes it easier for them to visit with community members and tell the story of the Forney Education Foundation.

And it is a wonderful story. In 2003, George Brown had realized that a little support from the community would help graduating seniors in Forney ISD to achieve their goals. So, George talked to five of his friends and together they formed the Forney Education Leadership Foundation. Fast forward to 2008 and the Foundation added teacher-requested grants to the support that FEF gives to Forney ISD. Then a few years ago, Eastfield College of the Dallas College District partnered with FISD and created a dual credit program taught in Foney at the high schools. This move gave the Foundation the ability to redirect its focus solely to the classroom environment and supporting the wonderful teachers and students in FISD. Also, the Foundation had realized that not all students were college-bound and those students needed support, too, so reimbursement of certification fees for the Career and Technical Education (CTE) students began. These students have taken the steps necessary to cross the stage at graduation and then enter the workplace of their choosing. Some of them use this CTE certification to gain an entry into their field of choice as a way to pay for their future education in their chosen field and some are ready to work immediately.
