February is in the rearview now and March has arrived…that means that the Fourth Annual Casino Night for the Forney Education Foundation is happening soon! This year the event, presented by Gallagher Construction and Huckabee, will happen at the new Kaufman Civic Center on April 2, 2022. The tickets will go on sale on March 7, 2022. If you go to the website, you will be able to buy tickets there and the best advice is don’t delay as this event has always sold out. And this year’s event is going to be very special as the Teachers of the Year for Forney ISD will be announced as well as the District Teachers of the Year!
You may ask why you should support the Foundation. My “why” is the positive lift that FEF gives to the teachers and students in Forney ISD through the teacher-requested grants. It is so exciting to read through the requests and determine which requests should be funded. And then the best days are when the Grant Train rolls through the district stopping at the schools and letting the teachers know that their requested grant was funded! I honestly don’t know who is more excited– the teachers, the students, or the Foundation members that are able to be there. There are so many wonderful requests made that the task is sometimes very difficult to sort through but ultimately the Grants Committee makes the right choice and adds to the classroom experience for the students in FISD.
