If you ask a teacher, they will tell you that there is a rhythm to teaching. There is a weekly rhythm, there is a rhythm based on the moon, there’s a yearly rhythm based on the agricultural calendar, and there’s even a rhythm based on a semester. Spring semester has its own rhythm: it is when deeper learning can occur due to students using what they have learned in the fall and building on that knowledge.

Since the spring semester has been active for 15 instructional days, the students and teachers have gotten back into their rhythm and learning and activities have picked up. And it is a good thing, too, as there are many activities and events in the Spring semester looming on the horizon. Spring sports are being added to calendars; our yearly standardized tests are on the horizon; students start to transition into the next grade and the next year’s challenges.

Forney Education Foundation is also gearing up for a strong spring semester, with monthly meetings beginning again. All of the Grant awardees’ items have been purchased and are being distributed to the teachers for them to implement and add to the rhythm of the classroom. Strategic Planning has begun for FEF so we can do better for the teachers and students in Forney ISD. The Board members are a dedicated and enthusiastic group that want nothing but the best for the students and district. The Foundation knows it takes a village or in our case the Forney Family to create and keep up the rhythm for learning that gives our students their best future.
