On November 22, 2021 Speaker Dade Phelan appointed Rep. Keith Bell (R-Forney) to the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission, a 12 - member board that serves as the state’s government accountability commission. The sunset commission is responsible for making recommendations to the Texas Legislature to improve the performance, transparency, and efficiency of a state agency.

Every state agency is subject to a scheduled sunset review, during which the commission examines its mission, priorities, and performance to identify and address problems and provide recommendations for improvement. There are currently 21 state agencies under sunset review before the 88th Legislative session.
Representative Bell represents House District 4, encompassing Kaufman and Eastern Henderson counties.
