On Thursday, November 11th, 2021, at approximately 7:13 p. m. hours, Forney Police responded to US Hwy 80 and FM 548 after receiving a report of two vehicles coming out of the Mesquite area involved in a continuing disturbance. The vehicles were reported as being a white box truck and a black Honda Pilot.
Officers contacted the complainant driving the Honda Pilot. The suspect driving the white box truck which had been following the Honda Pilot continued, failed to yield to officers when a traffic stop was attempted. The box truck was reported to be driving recklessly and reached speeds of up to 80 mph. A vehicle pursuit continued on College Ave, Chestnut St, Broad St, Bois D’arc, and through Hurricane Park. While attempting to exit the park, the box truck crashed into a ditch near Center St. and Buffalo St. The driver of the box truck exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers set up a perimeter and began searching the area.
The suspect later identified as 25-year-old Elvis Sestic of Mesquite was located in the area of Cedar Street. Sestic attempted to flee again, refusing to comply to the Officer’s commands. Sestic was taken into custody a short time later. After being medically cleared from Emergency Medical Services, Sestic was transported to Forney City Jail.
Sestic was charged with Texas Penal Code 38.04 Evading Arrest Detention w/Vehicle, a Third Degree Felony, Texas Penal Code 38.04 Evading Arrest Detention, a Class A Misdemeanor, Texas Penal Code 28.03 Criminal Mischief >=$2,500<$30K, a State Jail Felony, and with Texas Penal Code 28.03 Criminal Mischief >=$750<$2,500, a Class A Misdemeanor.
Sestic was arraigned on the charges and bond was set at $20,000.00 for the Third Degree Felony Evading Arrest Detention w/Vehicle, $3,000.00 for the Class A Misdemeanor Evading Arrest Detention, $10,000.00 for the State Jail Felony Criminal Mischief >=$2,500<$30K, and $3,000.00 for the Class A Misdemeanor Criminal Mischief >=$750<$2,500.
