The Forney Jackrabbits hosted the Frisco Liberty Redhawks for their First Round Matchup in the Texas 5A State Playoffs last week. The atmosphere was electric as the town came out to support the Rabbits on a cold evening. A win versus the Redhawks last Friday night would result in a second round date with Powerhouse Aledo. The Jackrabbits were unable to overcome a fast start by Liberty, though, and ultimately ended their season with a 45-21 loss at City Bank Stadium.

The Jackrabbits’ touchdowns came on the ground and in the air. Jayden Brown scored off a one yard rush. An 18 yard touchdown pass from Jake White to Zach Fuller accounted for another set of points, and the last touchdown came off a 30 yard pass from Jake White to Andrew Gafford. Quarterback Jake White led the Jackrabbit Offense in output in this last game of the 2021 season, racking up 161 yards in the air to go with the two touchdown passes.

Liberty got off to a fast start against the Darkside Defense of Forney. Liberty Quarterback Keldric Luster threw for 242 yards and three touchdowns while adding 159 yards and two scores on the ground. The Jackrabbit Defense did a fair job of not giving up huge plays to the powerful Redhawk Offense throughout the night. The Forney Defense forced Liberty to go on long offensive drives throughout the contest.

The Jackrabbits finish their season 7-4, and the efforts put in by the Senior Class have reshaped the expectations of Jackrabbit Football. Head Coach Jeff Fleener’s inaugural season with Forney High School has been nothing short of transformative, and the future of Jackrabbit Football rests in good hands.
