Last Saturday my son TJ posted cryptic message that involved his friend Shane Smith. It said:

“Shane Smith & The Saints is at Yellowstone Idaho Falls, Idaho. To our “Yellowstone Fans.. we are gonna need you to watch tomorrow night’s episode ; )

Also.. be sure to check out the episode name that the amazing folks @Yellowstone decided to go with.

Please TAG anyone that needs to know, set up your DVRs and help us spread the word on this. Cannot express how grateful and excited we are. #Yellowstonetv”

As a fan of the Showtime series Yellowstone I was intrigued. But first I need to give some background. Shane Smith is from Terrell, Texas and went to school with my kids at Terrell Christian Academy where I taught for a couple of years. TCA was a very small school (there were only 8 people in TJ’s class.) After High School and while attending College in Tyler, Shane Smith formed the band Shane Smith and the Saints. A few years ago TJ moved to Austin with his work and found one of the loves of his life: Austin Music. He would often tell me how popular his friend Shane Smith and his band were becoming and he would see his shows any time he could.

Three years ago, TJ married the love of his life Sarah in a beautiful ceremony outside Hutto, Texas. Among the music in the wedding TJ chose a song that summed up his feelings for Sarah. It was a song written by his friend and preformed by Shane Smith and the Saints. The song is called “All I see is you.” TJ even had the title “All I see is you” inscribed on the inside of his wedding ring.

I, along with almost everyone else, is a fan of the show Yellowstone and have been anxiously waiting for Season 4, but after the post TJ put up from his friend, I watched the episode with even more interest. At the very end of the show one of the main characters is being sent away to the Four Sixes Ranch in the Texas Panhandle. In a very emotional scene Jimmy gets in the truck with three rough cowboys and has to leave his beautiful barrel racing girlfriend Mia. As they drive away one of the cowboys in the back of the truck asks the driver “What are we playin’? As the driver turns on the stereo he says “Shane Smith and the ___Saints” and what song would you think comes on the radio. “All I see is you,” the same song that is inscribed on the inside of my son’s wedding ring. That by the way, is also the title of episode 3 of Season 4 of the series Yellowstone. If you watch the episode, please pardon the verbiage as the driver says the name of the band.

As for Shane Smith and the Saints, they were scheduled to play in Virginia Beach, Virginia on Sunday night and the show was a little different. They had an opening act then a watch party for the episode “All I see is you” then they took the stage. If you look on the internet there is a lot of buzz about the song and the band. The band has already been enjoying an increasing amount of success that has included headlining at Austin City Limits last summer. I think you will hear a lot more about the boy from Terrell and his band in the future.
