The Forney Jackrabbits traveled to Sulphur Springs last week to face the Wildcats in their Week Nine matchup. Beating the Wildcats would further cement Forney’s playoff position. Sulphur Springs gave a valiant effort on the field, but the Jackrabbits ultimately proved to be too much for the Wildcats.

The Jackrabbits’ touchdowns for the night came about on a variety of plays. Jake White tossed a shovel pass to Zach Fuller for a 35 yard touchdown. Late in the game, Jake White would connect with Zach Fuller again in the corner of the endzone for a touchdown. Josh Stephens would line up in the wildcat package and would also power his way into the endzone for 2 touchdown rushes in the game. Braden Merchant connected on all of his field goal attempts in the game.

Aside from a few mishaps, the Jackrabbits’ Defense contained the Wildcats’ Offense for the majority of the night. Linebackers Preston Cooper and Jaxon Smith would each be responsible for a sack on the night, once it was all said and done. Defensive Back Aaron Flowers delivered several crushing hits on the night, and Reserve Defensive Back Micah Rueben made a herculean effort on a late kickoff when he ran down the field and recovered a kickoff on the two yard line. The Jackrabbits would convert this play into three crucial points a few plays later. So despite a few mistakes during the game, the excellent work put in by Forney’s defense had a huge impact on the outcome of last Friday’s game.

The Jackrabbits (6-3) look to finish their regular season on a high note, when they host Royse City for their final game of the regular season tomorrow night, Friday, November 5, at City Bank Stadium. This game will also be Senior Night for all of the graduating Jackrabbits, with special recognitions throughout the evening. Kickoff will take place at 7:30pm.
