Opportunities are always around: you just have to be able to recognize them when they occur for you. One of the best moments is when you realize that a simple gesture--like holding a door open for someone entering or exiting--can give you the opportunity to greet a stranger and share a smile, actually giving you as much of a lift as it gives the person going through the door.
The opportunity for you to help the students in Forney ISD is just around the corner, because it’s nearly Adopt-A-Grant season!
From the first time Adopt-A-Grant was introduced to the Forney Family, it has been a huge hit with the many supporters, not only of the Forney Education Foundation, but also with the community that supports the fabulous teachers in Forney! The educational professionals in FISD have been thinking about ways to enhance the classroom experience for their students since summer break began. And many of them have already submitted grants to their respective principals which has started the process for consideration by the Grant Committee. When the application process is closed, then the real work (and joy!) begins for the Forney Family as they get to peruse and adopt grants before the Committee sees them. Then, after the Adopt-A-Grant window closes, the remaining grants are submitted to the Grant Committee and after careful consideration, the Committee selects the grants to fund based upon a matrix that gives a maximum impact for students.
In years past, there have been many brilliant grants funded that have aided many FISD students in their elementary years as well as in middle and high school years. Grant time is simply one of the best opportunities to hold open a door for a student’s future.
