On Monday, October 18, local bands gathered to participated in the UIL Region 3 Marching Contest. Originally scheduled for Wednesday the 13th but rescheduled due to weather concerns, the event was held at Mesquite ISD’s Memorial Stadium. This oneday contest is the first stop on the road to each band’s objective for the year: a trip to the UIL State competition in San Antonio. Bands participating in the UIL Region 3 Contest were given a numerical result by judges according to their performances, with a “1” being the top rating possible.

The Forney High School Band, North Forney’s Pride of Falcon Nation Band, and Crandall High School’s Pirate Regiment all performed in this Region 3 Marching Contest on Monday. Each band put on a wonderful show, wowing the crowds with beautiful music, impressive marching, and remarkable flag work. Their performances were all testaments to the hard hours of work the students and directors have put in. All three of our local bands received Division One rankings and will advance to the Area Contest to be held this Saturday, October 23!

The UIL Area Contest is the next stop along the road to the Alamodome for the UIL State Competition. Congratulations to Forney High School, North Forney High School, and Crandall High School on this great accomplishment, and good luck at UIL Area!
